On March 23rd 2012 in HCMC and March 26th 2012 in Hanoi, Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA) cooperated with The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) to hold Workshop on Group Audits and Implementing ISAs - Lessons from UK.

Each workshop held in Hanoi and HCMC attracted approximately 100 participants including auditors, professors/lecturers of accounting and auditing in universities, directors, chief accountants of some groups, holding companies, and in Hanoi representatives of Ministry of Finance.

The speaker of both workshops was Ms. Katharine Bagshaw, Technical Manager, ICAEW Audit and Assurance Faculty. The workshops focused on the basic concepts of group audits such as who is responsible for the group audit, types of component, materiality, etc, along with observations and case studies. With more than 20 years of experience specializing in UK and international auditing standards, experience of practice with Big 4, Ms. Katharine not only presented the contents of interest by many people but also shared practical experience from the perspective of a specialist directly involved in the international standard setting and satisfactorily cleared up many questions and case studies.

According to most of the participants, the contents and quality of the workshops met their expectation and hoped that VACPA will continue to provide more workshops, training course with such and even higher quality.
